Our Approach
Pittsboro Montessori School is a half-day program that operates from 8am to 12pm Monday through Friday mid-August through mid-June each school year. At Pittsboro Montessori, we work with families to provide each child with an individual education experience tailored to his/her unique developmental needs. Our two classrooms each serve 20-22 three- to six-year-old children, with a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 11:1. Our students spend time outside most days, and each classroom has an outdoor learning environment that is an extension of the classroom. Parent participation in the classroom is encouraged once the classroom has "normalized" in the fall. Parents help out with language lessons, art projects, cooking projects, and in many other ways, depending on their skills, experiences, and interests.
Teachers host formal conferences with parents or guardians twice per year. Between conferences, our teachers reach out to families on a regular basis to discuss developmental milestones and any concerns that arise in the classroom.
We encourage you to schedule a time to visit our classrooms, as it is difficult to convey in words the special things that happen there. Please visit the Contact Us page and submit an interest form if you would like a tour of our school.
